Noon and everything is closed at the house and the taxi arrives. I was going to leave Hua Hin by train but, get a train to Bangkok that leaves before 07:00 or the next one that doesn’t stop at every station on the route at 16:01? The trains are never on time here unless it is the originating station and even then I would’ve had to wait over an hour before as they have shunted another train into the train I’m meant to be on. Getting the 16:01 says it will be in Bangkok at 19:45, I don’t want to get to Bangkok at 22:00 or later so arranged a taxi through Peter and Khonnie at a set price.
The taxi is spot on time and we leave Hua Hin travelling North towards Bangkok. An hour into the journey and I notice the driver has the meter running and it’s turning over the Baht very quickly. Phone call to Peter and he gets Khonnie to confirm it’s a set fee and the meter is running in case we get stopped by the police.
Arrive in Bangkok and check into the hotel cum hostel near the main station in Bangkok, Hua Lamphon.

The view across the road from the hotel, the arched building is Hua Lamphon railway station.
It is at this time while I am trying to connect all devices to the internet that I realise I have forgotten to bring the mains power adaptor for the laptop. Silly sod!! A few phone calls later and eventually decide better to get a new power adaptor in Bangkok than have the original sent by minibus tomorrow.
I get the MRT to Sukhumvit and go into Terminal 21 and ride all the elevators up to the almost top floor and ask in a computer shop for a power adaptor. “We only sell UPS for power” after a quick look around in the same store I find what I’m after and ask to check if it has the right connector for my laptop. Same assistant tries every connector and says none fit my laptop and I should go to Phra Ram 9 and into Fortune Towers.
Back to the MRT and along another two stops to Fortune Towers, up a few escalators to find a shop that sells power adaptors but also the same one they had at Terminal 21 and the second connector she tries fits perfectly. Was the assistant at the other shop just being difficult because I’m Farang?? That was the impression I got anyway.

Back to the hotel where smoking is not allowed, open the curtains to see what view I may have only to find a smoking area right next door, very convenient. I just need to verify that I won’t be charged 2,000 Baht for smoking there like anywhere else in the hotel.
